Charlottesville, VA, August 15, 2012 – Our talented and extremely admired jeweler, Judy Ligon will be C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery’s featured artist during the month of September. She will be at the gallery on September 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday event.
Known for her polymer clay jewelry, this gifted artist, Judy Ligon will exhibit works reaching outside her norm. Judy has mastered the creation of polymer clay jewelry for a decade and it shows. Her delicate yet playful designs capture ones attention in a way that is mesmerizing. Judy’s dedication to detail and wonderful appetite for color are magically combined to form patterns that dazzle her audiences. One can almost smell the sweetness in the air from the blossoms emerging in her designs.
In this exhibit, Ligon explores fresh designs in polymer clay along with new mediums that include mixed media canvases and some copper enameling. Her devotion to color and linear compositions are strong characteristics throughout her collection.
“Nature has always been my muse, with its multitude of patterns, shapes and colors” explains Ligon, describing her journey. “I was an enamellist for 35 years then carpal tunnel issues with my hands required that I stop for a while. So ten years ago I took up creating with polymer clay. It’s been a joyous and satisfying experience in clay creating as well as healing for my hands. It’s all about color play, pattern and botanical design.”
