C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery will feature the bead creations of Steve Cunningham during the month of August. Steve will be at the gallery onFriday, Aug. 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday event.
The August show, “Flights of Fancy,” highlights a variety of flying things from skydiving parachutes, to dragonflies and butterflies, to fantasy creatures straight from Steve’s imagination. Whether a simple pair of tropical bird earrings or the dramatic Madame Butterfly, each piece comes alive with color and texture.
Steve began as Bead Brothers with beaded necklaces more than 20 years ago, selling at City Market. He has expanded his range beyond jewelry
to include a line of Bead Beings. He creates these whimsical sculptures using craft wire, buttons, beads, and odd bits of recycled jewelry. Steve enjoys the meditation in color of working with beads. He and his wife, Lisa, are among the founding members of the cooperative.
