C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery will feature the functional and beautiful glass work of Norma Geddes. Norma will be at the gallery on Friday, December 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday event.
After a satisfying health care career, and quite by chance, Norma Geddes took a stained glass class. That was 5 years ago. The freedom of “formal” retirement allowed multiple glass art paths to be pursued, including fused glass and torch-made glass beads. Her stained glass art consists of panels, windows, and smaller objects such as business card holders. Fused glass items include table ware and decorative wall art, often adorned with hand crafted glass beads.
Norma has discovered glass art to be a transformative power in her life. She has found the following words of Joseph Campbell to be absolutely and profoundly true: “When you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that you did not know were there, and would not be there for anyone else.” No small part of the transformation experience is finding one’s own style of imagery, color, and texture. Oddly enough, for her, this process has been a path to stillness.
