Kim Clarke, award winning ceramic artist brings her magical, joyful and fairy-like figurines to C’ville Arts during the month of September. She will be at the gallery during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday celebration on September 3rd, from 5 – 7 p.m. to share her bright, new collection of work.
Clay is the medium which unlocks the imagination of Kim Clarke. Beginning early in life, Kim learned that transforming clay was a magical process, a way for her to express inner voices, and stories from her secret garden. Charming sculptures emerge from Clarke’s studio like magic, her whimsical creations are light hearted, delicate, with an “out-of-this-world” kind of appeal.
Clarke creates her sculptures with high fire clay. Finishing them with colorful glazes, englobes, and underglazes bringing their images to life.
Kim’s sophisticated sense of wonder is depicted with a gentle and delightful magnetism. She beckons her audience to enter her world of wonder with joyful curiosity. And by joining her journey, one goes from wonder, into wonder and finds, this is where existence opens. “Beyond the Garden” is a show you will enjoy and it will leave you wanting a piece of the magic to carry home.
