C’ville Arts is delighted to feature our talented, ever evolving jeweler, Natalie Darling during the month of May. She will be at the gallery to share a live demonstration of her new technique as well as her inspiring new collection on May 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. during the Historic Downtown Malls’ First Friday event.
Natalie Darling is an inventive artist who enjoys working with metals, mostly sterling silver, and has a special love for repurposing. From turning layers of auto paint into gems, to making sterling silverware into jewelry, her imagination takes her on a creative journey with an amazing flow of high-quality results.
In this show, Natalie explores a new technique she calls organic casting. By melting down the “scraps” of silver and pouring the fluid metal over organic materials, she can create flowing components to use in fresh, original, one-of-a-kind designs. Building on these unique pieces she adds framework to some and stones to others, letting her imagination go with the flow. She plans to demonstrate her new technique live-action during her opening reception on May 5th so mark your calendar for this exciting event!
Much like creeks and rivers in the spring time, Natalie’s imagination is flowing strong from one technique to another. Moving from repurposed silverware to molten metal flows, her creative juices are ever changing and emerging with fresh ideas. She continues to expand her knowledge, growing and flowing like a river and with a natural quality, impressing audiences with her elegant and innovative work.
