C’ville Arts is excited to introduce fresh perspectives from 3 of our newest members with an impressive range of work from the fine felted fabrics of Barbara Brecher and the incredibly detailed photography of Seth Silverstein to watercolor wonders from the sky and beyond by Martha PullenCome meet them at the gallery during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday celebration on April 4th from 5-8pm.

Our new fabric artist, Barbara Brecher creates wearable designs that allow you to wrap yourself in a piece of art. Each new piece incorporates a unique fusion of textures, materials, and color. Barbara blends the elements together with an organic flow as she works with the fiber, letting her materials guide the process all the way to the finished product. She finds it rewarding when her clients feel a sense of joy wearing her work.

Seth Silverstein creates an incredibly detailed photographic image using a technique called focus stacking which takes many images at different focal distances then, through software, blends them together into an overall extremely sharp image. His fascination lies in exploring an image from the full range of flora: flowers, seeds, trees, etc., on a detailed, microscopic level that exposes aspects of plant life that are unusual, interesting, and quite beautiful.

Martha Pullen is a landscape artist based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Martha enjoys the unpredictability of watercolor and paints intuitively to create landscapes full of vivid colors and textures. She especially loves painting mountains, sunsets and night skies, and is endlessly inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and the Green Mountains of her home state, Vermont. Her work reminds us that no matter how noisy or stressful the modern world may be, peace and beauty can always be found in nature.

While all three artists have different styles, techniques, and results they are connected through their passion to create, share and imagine what's next.
