C’ville Arts Features – “Roots and Wings” – During November

myotheragent

Updated: Nov 9, 2020

Our popular painter and printmaker, Lori Jakubow will be the featured artist during November. Known for her bold colors and painterly style, Lori explores another level of her expression with media-textiles using fabric collage. In this cheerful collection, Lori expands the traditional collage method to include fabrics, beginning with hand cut pieces of high-quality materials including cotton, linen and silk. The fabric “puzzle” pieces are then arranged to fit into a design and sewn onto raw canvas as the support. Her results are vibrant and fresh; simplistic, yet strong and emblematic. Building on her relationship with the natural world, Lori signifies a sense of hope with images of birds and botanicals. Her work is a visual representation of the universal theme of connectivity. Our connections to the past and the future bring comfort in their reliable rhythms of renewal and continuity; roots and wings.
