Charlottesville, VA, October 21st, 2022
Our gifted ceramic artist, Trina Player, will be the featured artist for the month of November. She will be at the gallery to share her latest collection during the Historic Downtown Malls’ First Friday celebration on November 4th from 5 – 7 p.m.
Trina Player has been making pottery for over 25 years. Throwing pots still amazes and continues to ground this ceramic artist. Over the years she’s learned that some of her best glaze combinations are inspired by nature. Take a walk anywhere and you will find nature has perfectly laid out beautiful color schemes. Many of her ideas have come from long walks in the woods with her wonderful horse Hank. Splashes of color pop out everywhere this time of year from flowers, trees, and critters to the gorgeous range of hues revealed by the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia that surround her studio and life.
In this show, you’ll find a collection of unique designs inspired by the raw beauty of this planet. Her stunning take on the elements from the natural world, combined with decades of experience demonstrates that each step of her overall process is an art in its self. Her glazing and firing techniques affect the finished piece as much as the process by which it was made. Player’s work serves a host of functional purposes, from leaf platters and pie plates to bowls and unique chip and dip designs, all of her work may be used and admired simultaneously.
Whether she’s walking in the woods with Hank or working with her hands in clay, Trina finds an organic force motivating her. Her walks with nature step into her mind with a flow of creativity feeding her imagination with results that will amaze you. This show is worth the walk in and you may walk out with a piece of her magic for the holidays.
