C’ville Arts is delighted to feature imaginative designs by our talented ceramic jewelry artist, Jennifer Paxton, during the month of November. She will be at the gallery to share her inspiring new collection on November 3rd, from 5 to 7 p.m. during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday event.
At its core, “World On A String” is the feeling that life is going your way, and that you have the confidence to make things happen! That sentiment, along with a sense of gratitude and contentment, are alive and well after almost 40 years in the studio of Jennifer Paxton. Her positive energy is multiplied by sharing a body of work inspired by the nature that surrounds her home and studio. The world of textures and patterns feeds fresh ideas to her creative stream. The genuine happiness generated during her creative process is conveyed to those who wear her work.
With decades of experience using earthenware and her flair for design, she selects a range of brightly colored ceramic glazes intended to elevate one’s mood and glow with a contagious vibrance. Her attention to detail while painting multi-layered designs takes time and practice, and her dedication shows. Jennifer’s handmade beads, pendants, and earrings make a unique statement everywhere they appear, complementing any wardrobe and budget with ease.
“It's really rather thrilling!” she explains with a smile, “When I'm in my studio thinking, designing and creating, it’s pure pleasure. I truly do feel like I have the world on a string!”
Her joy for the process is connected to each piece. The enduring popularity of Paxton’s work grows with each season. Spreading that magical confidence beyond her studio by watching her customers light up with joy as they dance out the door brings her work full circle. Now they too have…the world on a string!
